The best of fall flavors star in this all-in-one dessert.

Whenever the holidays roll around, it can be hard to choose what pie to make with so many classic and delicious options on the table. So we solved one problem for you: we combined two standby pie flavors into one delicious and photo-worthy recipe. Combining the very best of seasonal fall ingredients like apples and pumpkins, this sweet treat is the perfect showpiece to bring to the party, or to guest star at your own.

For the crust:

  • 2 ½ cups all purpose flour

  • 2 teaspoons granulated sugar

  • 1 teaspoon salt

  • 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, cut into ½-inch cubes, chilled in the freezer for 20 minutes

  • 8 tablespoons ice water, plus more if needed

  • 1 egg

  • 1 tablespoon sanding or demerara sugar (Sugar in the Raw)


For the pumpkin & Apple fillings and brushing:

  • 4 apples (about 2 pounds), peeled, cored, and diced (about 3 ¼ cups diced)

  • 3 tablespoons lemon juice, plus 2 teaspoons zest (from 1 medium lemon)

  • 1 tablespoon plus 1 teaspoon pumpkin spice blend

  • ½ cup plus ⅓ cup light brown sugar

  • 1/3 cup granulated sugar

  • ½ teaspoon salt

  • One 15-ounce can packed pure pumpkin

  • 3/4 cup heavy cream

  • 3 eggs

  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract

  • Sweetened whipped cream, for serving
