Let the kids build their own fruit and treat creations—dipped in chocolate sauce.
Who says all skewers have to be savory? This sweet version combines Luna and Miles' favorite treats (and a little fruit) into a fun end-of-the-BBQ dessert. While the adults are grilling, let the kiddos skewer their choices of colorful fruit, doughnut holes, and crispy rice treats together. There’s even a homemade chocolate dipping sauce to dunk the skewers in—because at this point, why not?—and the adults will probably be reaching for them by the end of the night, too.
2 (0.78 oz.) crispy rice treats, cut into quarters
8 medium strawberries, stemmed
8 powdered doughnut holes
1 medium kiwi, peeled, cut into 8 (½-inch thick) half moons
1 large banana, peeled and cut into 8 slices
8 pineapple wedges (about 1 cup)
8 (10-inch) wooden skewers
Microwave cream in a small microwaveable bowl until hot and steaming, about 1 minute. Pour hot cream over chocolate chips, corn syrup, and cinnamon, if using, in a small bowl; let stand for 2 minutes. Whisk until smooth.
Arrange crispy rice treats, strawberries, doughnut holes, kiwi, banana, and pineapple on skewers. Serve with chocolate sauce for dipping.
