Our holey grail donut recipe.

Fat Tuesday, aka national-excuse-to-eat-a-donut day, is one our favorite food holidays of the year. So naturally, we're making something deep-fried and delicious to celebrate. Inspired by the flavors of a truly classic dessert, key lime pie, this easy-to-make donut hole recipe gets fried up in our Lowkey Lavender Braiser to a golden-brown perfection and then gets dusted with a lemongrass-infused sugar to finish. A simple dipping sauce made with store-bought vanilla pudding brings the flavor and texture of the key lime pie filling. Skip the trip to Florida and make this instead!

  • cup plus 2 tablespoons sugar, separately

  • One

2-inch piece of fresh lemongrass (tender white and light green parts only), very finely chopped

  • ½

    cup store-bought prepare vanilla pudding

  • Juice and zest of 1 small lime

  • 1

    teaspoon fine sea salt

  • 1 ¾

cups all purpose flour, plus more as needed

  • 2 ½
