Eat Your Heart Out: Shucking Oysters with John

Eat Your Heart Out: Shucking Oysters with John
Share

Was hoping John would find a pearl in one of these, but... we just ended up eating a lot of oysters. Honestly, this is a really fun trick to pull out of your hat for date night or a small gathering. So if you've never tried to shuck an oyster what better time than right before Valentine's Day??...or Galentine's Day or whatever day you celebrate! Open, twist, clean, sauce...it's a lot easier than you think! And to spice things up even more, below are some delicious sauces you can make to go with them. Enjoy!

Japanese Mignonette:

Ingredients:

  • 2 tablespoons rice vinegar

  • 1 teaspoon finely minced or finely grated ginger

  • 1/8 teaspoon soy sauce

  • Pinch of salt

Directions:

Combine all ingredients in a ramekin and serve with oysters.

Cocktail Sauce:

Ingredients:

  • 1/4 cup ketchup

  • 1 tablespoon prepared horseradish

  • Squirt of lemon juice

  • Pinch of fresh black pepper

Directions:

Combine all ingredients in a ramekin and serve with oysters.
