Instead of sticky-sweet cinnamon sugar flavors, this monkey bread is made with four of our favorite things: cheese, bread, tomato sauce, and pepperoni. The best part is that you don’t even need a classic bundt pan to make it—you can build the whole thing around a can of tomato sauce (that you’ll later use for dipping that bread in) inside a braiser or Dutch oven. It’ll bake up all puffed, golden, and cheesy inside and out. Perfect for Game Day or a random night when you want pizza in pull-apart, dippable form. We’re not monkeying around with this one.
5 tablespoons olive oil
3 pounds pizza dough, defrosted and risen if frozen
1 (14-ounce) can pizza sauce
1 tablespoon chopped fresh oregano, or 1 ½ teaspoons dried
3 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
2 cups finely shredded Parmigiano Reggiano cheese
4 ounces (1 cup) mini pepperoni slices
1 teaspoon chili flakes or crushed red pepper
1 teaspoon kosher salt
½ teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
In John's words, it's "sinful."
An easy-peasy yet flavorful weeknight meal!
Two of our favorite desserts, combined!
