Tuna Niçoise Sandwich Bar

SERVES: 4 PREP: 30 minutes TOTAL TIME: 45 minutes

Niçoise is French for “delicious."

If Chrissy Teigen is nearby, some kind of Niçoise salad situation ain’t too far behind. I’ve got a real one in a bowl in Hungry For More, but this sammie takes all its best elements (seared fresh tuna, hard-boiled eggs, and cooked potato slices) and puts you in charge of the assembly. Use my aïoli or hey, even my Caesar dressing and you will find yourself saying merçi to this recipe.

  • 4 small or 2 medium potatoes, scrubbed

  • 4 eggs

  • a 1-pound tuna steak

  • 4 individual-sized baguettes

  • 1 recipe Aïoli or store-bought mayonnaise

  • Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste

  • Tender romaine or butter lettuce leaves

  • Avocado slices

  • Tomato slices

  • Dijon mustard

  • Store-bought olive tapenade

  • Store-bought sun-dried tomato spread
